President Barack Obama has renewed the importance of national and community service as a core American value. Inspired by the president’s commitment and his endorsement of Renew America Together, the Capital Business Leaders Forum on Service™ was created to complement individual service commitments by encouraging Capital area business and government leaders to make enduring commitments to community service. Learn more about the need.
Our goal is to create and sustain a new, higher level of business and organizational participation in community service in our nation’s capital, while providing a means for coordinating annual efforts in a way that multiplies our effectiveness in meeting community needs. For 2010 we plan to focus service efforts on three of our most pressing community needs: public schools, neighborhood infrastructure and poverty.
We envision more than 400 Capital area business, government and non-profit leaders meeting in the First Annual Forum on Service led by our nation’s and city’s most prominent leaders to discuss ways for fielding more than 20,000 additional community service volunteers for National Community Service Day 2010 and beyond.
The First Annual Forum on Service is now in the planning stage for 2010. We invite you to join us, and to make a commitment to participate in the premier event January 14th, 2010 leading to a highly successful National Community Service Day, January 18th, 2010. Email us at forum@nationalservice.us.com or call a Forum coordinator at 888.446.3506. Event sponsorships are available.

Does your community service organization, public school, or neighborhood need volunteer help? If your need falls in the broad categories of help for public schools, neighborhood infrastructure and clean-up or poverty, you fit in our program goals for 2010. CBLFS has developed a community volunteer needs assessment form that has been distributed to public schools, community organizations and neighborhood leaders to solicit their needs for volunteer services.
From these inputs we will develop a catalog of community needs for volunteers that will form the basis for the CBLFS Service Plan for 2010. We will coordinate these activities with the Corporation for National and Community Service, Renew America Together and other local partners. Learn more.

Members of the Rotary Club of Washington DC and other Capital Area community leaders are donating their time and talents to develop the all-volunteer CBLFS. CBLFS’s vision is a sustainable model that provides a comprehensive online catalog of community service needs using a web-based database that is populated by community service organizations, nonprofits and public schools; and a database of active business volunteers. CBLFS “matchmakers” then work with local businesses and volunteer organizations to define, implement and manage volunteer projects. Learn more.
Join us as a Business Partner. The success of the Capital Business Leaders Forum on Service™ is dependent upon the goodwill and commitment of our Business Partners. If you are a Capital metro area business or government organization with more than 20 employees, we want your help.
Business Partners will get an opportunity to review our community needs assessment -- an online database of community service organizations' and schools' needs and select activities they would like to participate in 2010.

We will assign a CBLFS "matchmaker" to assist each business or organization to develop a Service Plan for 2010. The matchmaker will work with your business and selected community service organizations to plan, develop and execute community improvement projects.
Business Partners are invited to attend the First Annual Forum on Service to meet with prominent national and community leaders (invited speakers include President Obama, Michelle Obama, General Colin Powell, William Marriott and others). Learn more.
